Bump Update - 15 Weeks

***written on Jan 21/13***

So from day one both Ryan and I have just had a gut feeling that we were having a girl. We never once considered it to be a boy. Whenever we would talk about the baby, it was automatic for us to say "she" and "her". I also find myself pinning a lot of girl items (such as nursery ideas) without even thinking twice about it.

This week we decided to try a couple of old wives tales for fun to see what the gender would come up as. We tried the Chinese gender chart and the ring on a string trick. The chart indicated we would be having a boy, and the ring on a string (which we tried 5 times) kept saying boy as well. Hmm.

Yesterday I was talking to a co-worker (mother of two) who, when I told her how far along I was, didn't believe me. She thought I was only 7-8 weeks pregnant. She immediately yelled "you're having a boy!!".
Oh? Why do you say that?
She thinks that because I'm not showing yet (most people still can't tell) it means that I am carrying more to the back instead of the front which apparently indicates it's a boy.

I'll be happy either way with whatever we are having, but I still can't picture it being a boy. I still have this gut feeling (literally!) that it's a girl. I guess we'll find out soon!

If it looks like I am tired, it's because I was (I had just finished working out)
How far along? 15 weeks, 5 days

Size of Baby D? The size of an orange - Baby is moving around a TON (although I still can't feel it yet) since joints and limbs are all fully functioning. It is also very common for baby's to have hiccups quite often at this stage as well.

Total weight gain? About 5 lbs

Gender? We find out in 2 weeks!

Maternity clothes? Nope but finally went ahead and purchased a belly band. I wore it for the first time today with my work pants and it is SO much more comfortable than the elastic trick!

Sleep? Sleep is still the same as last week; it could be better. Even though I don't really have a belly yet, I'm still finding myself getting uncomfortable and I toss and turn a lot. I can still sleep on my stomach, which is usually my comfort zone, but I just constantly feel restless. We were at the movies last night and I kept getting that really annoying restless feeling in my left arm... almost like the circulation was getting cut off. I was worried that this would be a sign of the night to come, but thankfully it went away!

Best moment of the week? Ryan and I finally having a name picked out for both genders! We've had a girl name picked for weeks which we have now changed as of last week. We couldn't agree on a boy name so he compromised and agreed to go with one of my top boy names and I agreed to change the girl name to his favorite which although isn't my number one pick, it was still one of my top names.... but shhhh, it was a compromise.... ;)

Miss anything? Shopping for normal clothes! Every time I go to the mall I get a little sad. There are so many cute outfits out there right now!

Cravings? Fruit!

Symptoms? None (except for a lot of bathroom breaks). It's kind of weird -- I had waited and waited for 3 months for the day when the symptoms would be gone, but now I kind of wish I had at least one... I just don't feel pregnant anymore!

Mood? Just super excited for the future!

Upcoming appointments? OB appt Jan 31st, Gender reveal ultrasound Feb 6th.

Looking forward to? Finding out the gender! I put up a poll on my side bar to see what people think :)

  3. Don't worry. Everyone kept telling me I was having a boy from the way I carried {basketball baby} but baby most definitely came out a girl.

  4. Everyone told me I was having a girl and I assure you (three ultrasounds later) that we are indeed having a baby boy! :) I felt like I showed early but looking at my bump pictures from each week..I didn't really start showing until 16-ish weeks! The rest of the time before...I just looked like I ate a really really big lunch!

Congrats again!! Your ultrasound will be here before you know it! (P.S. Drink some OJ before the ultrasound..it gets the baby moving around and can make for an easier money shot picture.)

  5. Eh. My sisters-in-law both carry the exact same way (they look like pregnancy twins- their bellies are exactly the same) and one had a girl and the other had a boy. My sister looked ENORMOUS with her little one, and she had a boy.
